I know who you are

Another one of my new things that I love this year is site meter.  I have to think my aunt Aurora for this one.  A month ago when we were visiting her, I was talking to her about her awesome blog and she said she noticed that I check it everyday.  So then I was thinking, "Thats amazing!".  It turns out she has site meter, you add it to your blog and you can check you is reading your blog and how did they get to your blog.  So cool.  Before I learned about site meter I was wondering if keeping up the family blog and my blog was really worth my time, because no one was leaving messages (I know I don't leave much messages either) Sooooo, I was thinking that no one was even reading it.  But now I know.  Its so cool to track who is checking your blog out. I love it.  And now that I got Garrett sleeping good for the time being (more on that for the next blog entry) I can really get to work and hopefully keep up on the posting thing. My goal is AT LEAST once a week.   In conclusion, I know who you are, you blog checker addicts.  (just kidding).  But I do know who you are.

My Favorite Things

I think over the next few post I will post about some of my favorite things.

The first thing is so cool, that is if you are a breast feeding mom.  Lily Padz.  They are so awesome.  I loved them.  They are reusable and invisible under your clothes.  Before I used Lily Padz  hated wearing nursing pads because they were itchy, and bunchy, and very noticeable.  I would take them off to nurse then leave them all over the house.  Then, Lily Padz came into my life.  I loved them, I could go swimming, wear tighter shirts, and I wasn't leaving disposable nursing pads all over the house(which brandon was very happy about).  This is a great gift for any nursing mom.

Life just got a little easier.

As much as I love enjoy my little bundle of joy, I enjoy seeing him start grow into a toddler.   I know in about 3 years I am going to look at a friends baby and miss holding a tiny precious being, but you know what! babies are a lot of work.  After weeks of trying to get him to eat cheerios, veggie sticks, and fruit puff things, He has finally mastered eating them by himself with out choking!!!  Yea!!!!!!   It's so much easier now to pour some stuff on his tray, then he eats it while I finish getting dinner ready or clean up.  I just get so excited when something happens and life just gets a little easier and exciting for a moment.

National Turn Off Your TV Week -The End

TV turn off week was great. I know this post is very late. I have no excuses; I'm just lazy. At the end of the week our family filled out the a contract saying that we did not watch TV that whole week, and we listed 1-2 activities we did instead of watching TV. Carson turned in the contract to his teacher and we were entered into a school wide drawing for a prize!

WE WON!!!!!
Carson got off the bus a few days later with a big bag of book and stuffed animals that all were characters in the book. So cute. (pic will come soon). We were so excited. It was a great bonus!

Carson hardly missed the TV, and he loved all the play time we had. Brandon loved that the house was a little cleaner. I loved the challenge and spending time with my family.

Day 3 and 4

Days 3 and 4 came and went fast. We were so busy to even think to watch a show. Our house was quieter and I ended up having an extra little shadow(Carson) following me around. It took me a lot longer to get things done like laundry, dinner, and ect. because Carson was helping me instead of watching TV. I figured I should enjoy him helping me now because I doubt my boys will be so eager to help me with laundry when they are teenagers.

Day 2

Day 2 went great. No temptation. Carson asked only once to watch TV and when I said no it's turn off Your TV Week, he just said "oh yeah! Ok Lets go eat dinner". He calls most meals "dinner or snack" no matter what time it is. Goofy Kid. I got home late tonight and I'm so tired I don't even want to watch TV.

National Turn Off Your TV Week Day One

So, we get a flyer from Carson's preschool saying that it is Turn off your TV week starting april 21st. I also remember my school growing up did this too, although then I wasn't as supportive. But Now, I get super pumped about it. I start talking about this event 2 weeks ago because I think it is so neat! However, the strangest thing happens when I tell my friends about it; they just don't think its that cool. So here are a few TV facts that got me thinking.
1. Time per day that the TV is on in an average US home is 7 hours 40 mins.
2. Amount of TV that the average American watches per day: 4 hours.
3.Time spent daily with screen media for US children ages 6 and under:2 hours.
4. Percentages of parents who us the TV to occupy their child: 45%.
5. Time parents spend per week in meaningful conversation with their children: 38.5 mins.

It just made me realize that I do let Carson watch alot of TV. Some of the time its to give me a break and its easier just to turn on the TV. Sometimes its just on all day and we come and go in and out of the room but 10 mins here and 20 mins there I realized adds up over the day. Plus Carson would rather be playing with me or running outside than sitting in front of the TV. And finally the biggest reason I need to participate in Turn Off Your TV Week is that I am addicted to the TV.

So today was Day One. I wasn't that tempted at all to turn on the tv while the Boys were awake. However, Brandon worked tonight, I really didn't want to face the leftover dinner mess in the kitchen and I just wanted to chill in front of a mindless reality show that I have on DVR. But I didn't do it!!!! I've had to avoid the living room completely tonight, I called my mom twice, talked to Anni-lynn for a long time on the phone, and finally cleaned the kitchen. It really was tough.

My own blog

I've been thinking, I have lots of fun and goofy experiences myself that I don't really feel like sharing on our family blog. Our family blog is just more general about what we are doing as a family and pictures of us to keep all those relatives and friends who don't live near us updated. So, this is my blog. It's all about the frustrating and funny things learn and deal with being a young mom of 2 boys and a wife to a wonderful hardworking husband.
